My first encounter with Laz was in a Folk Alliance late-night picking session in Kansas City, his energy lit up the room, by the time I got to Texas i was aware he was lighting up the country as well as his adopted state, he all but stole the show at Tim Henderson's Heritage Concert, his reverence (and charming irreverence) was obvious and in equal measure, that was a career-defining moment in front of his peers and mentors, the best welcome to The Worlds City of Live Music and I was privileged to be there!
