‘Jocelyn’ is a song I was asked to write by a friend of mine for a girl who died of a rare form of cancer at age 7. Her full name was Jocelyn Irene Dickhoff. A friend of the girl’s family gave me some information about her; he said that she was somewhat feisty, that she was probably in heaven bossing all the angels around. The loss of a child is the saddest thing ever. One of my intentions when I was writing this song was to help the family heal from this tragedy. I hope I never have to find out what it is like to lose one of my children.
