Ghost Dancer's Shirt tells the story of the sacred Wounded Knee Ghost Dancers Shirt procured from its people for display on Buffalo Bill Cody's Wild West Show and gifted by him to Scotland, recently liberated from its glass case and returned to the family by the people of Glasgow.
Hamish is a true Scottish Reassurance Man, a renowned and hard hitting social combatant commentator playwright, actor and director, equal hard hitting Stand-up Comedian, Slam Poet and now as you can hear, turning his art to song writing with equal poignant effect .
This is taken from debut CD
Hamish originally started writing songs for 'the crack', for sessions or occasionally for stage productions, playing on the Highland open mic and local Scottish festival scene over the past few years which has resulted in a debut CD of 10 new songs.
Beautifully produced by Marc Clement (Blazing Fiddles) and features great arrangements and accompaniment from Marc, as well as contributions from Scottish stalwarts musos Brian MacAlpine, Liza Mulholland and Derek Urquhart. Songs From A Jar encompasses a range of themes from First Love to Fishin on the Fly, dances the Goldminer's Waltz and meets the Existential Blues, and the fate of a political prisoner in Iran.
WE think his story of the fate Ghost Dancer's Shirt is a story that should be told particularly in its Native land (pun intended)
